Pelvic: Transvaginal Only, CPT 76830

A Pelvic/Transvaginal ultrasound is the study of the female pelvis. The pelvic ultrasound plays an important role in detecting pelvic masses of the uterus, ovaries, and/or adnexal areas. This ultrasound is preferred for the evaluation of acute pelvic pain. During this ultrasound we can identify ovarian torsion, ovarian cysts, and other pelvic conditions. If the patient has abnormal bleeding, the pelvic ultrasound can detect endometrial changes.

Prep for Exam:

This ultrasound is transvaginal only and is the preferred and usually mandatory method of monitoring follicles. Usually performed from day 9 to day 17 of the menstrual cycle.

Follicular (Pelvic) Ultrasound, CPT 76857

Abdominal Ultrasound is used to view the organs and structures of the abdomen. An abdominal ultrasound is used to evaluate the organs in the upper abdomen such as: pancreas, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, and abdominal aorta. Reasons for this ultrasound can be for pain and/or bloating. You may also have an abdominal ultrasound for screening of an aortic aneurysm.

Abdomen Complete, CPT 76700

RUQ (Right Upper Quadrant) Ultrasound is used to evaluate organs in the upper right abdomen: liver, gallbladder, right kidney, pancreas, and CBD. Reasons for this ultrasound can be for pain and/or bloating.

RUQ (Right Upper Quadrant) CPT 76705

Booking: Monday-Friday Only
The renal ultrasound is used to evaluate the right and left kidneys, as well as, the bladder. This ultrasound may be used to access the size, location, and shape of the kidneys. We may identify large kidney stones, tumors, fluid collection, and/or infection within or around the kidneys. You may need this ultrasound due to hematuria (blood in your urine) or pain.

Prep for Exam:
Full Bladder- 32oz of water drank 1 hour prior to exam; do not empty your bladder.

The aorta ultrasound is used to evaluate the abdominal aorta. Reasons for this exam can be as simple as a screening for an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), A one-time abdominal aortic ultrasound screening is recommended for men between the ages of 65-75 who have a history of smoking. Anyone with a family history of AAA may receive this screening ultrasound.

Prep for Exam:

The splenic ultrasound is performed in order to view and evaluate the spleen only. This ultrasound will check for splenomegaly (the size of the spleen).

Ultrasound of one quadrant of the abdomen. Can be used as a soft tissue ultrasound of the abdomen when looking at one specific area.

Please wear clothing that is easily able to expose your abdomen.

This ultrasound evaluates the entire fetus for growth and well-being, as well as, the mother's uterus and ovaries. The OB complete ultrasound may be used to establish pregnancy. Depending upon how many weeks along you are, a transvaginal ultrasound may be needed as well.

Prep for Exam:
A two-piece outfit is best since we will need to access your abdominal/pelvic area. Please hydrate well 2-3 days prior to your appointment. This means drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water daily. 

5-10 weeks gestation: Please empty your bladder prior to the exam as this will be a transvaginal ultrasound.

11- 14weeks gestation: Please drink 32oz of water 1 hour prior to your exam and arrive with a full bladder.

This ultrasound evaluates the entire fetus for growth and well-being. The OB Complete ultrasound may be used to establish pregnancy and for the anatomy screening of the fetus around 20 weeks gestation.

OB Complete: Anatomy: Greater Than 14wks, CPT 76805

The OB limited ultrasound is not designed to be a full medical evaluation of the fetus. Instead, the OB Limited is used to follow-up anything from the previous OB Complete ultrasound with us. This may be done to further evaluate fetal structures not well see during the anatomy scan. It may also be used to follow-up a low lying placenta seen during the OB Complete ultrasound.

The BPP ultrasound measures the health of your baby during pregnancy. This ultrasound is only done after the 28th week of pregnancy. We will evaluate the baby's body movement, muscle tone, breathing, and amniotic fluid level. This ultrasound is normally done because the mom presents with decreased fetal movement and/or a nonreactive stress test.

A Scrotal ultrasound is used to evaluate the scrotum. A scrotal ultrasound investigates the scrotal area for symptoms like pain, lumps, swelling, and infertility.

The Thyroid/Soft Tissue Neck ultrasound is used to investigate potential issues within your thyroid gland and/or throughout the neck. The thyroid ultrasound is used to diagnose and treat problems not only within the thyroid, but also the parathyroid glands and surrounding area. Most commonly, a thyroid ultrasound is used to evaluate for nodules.

Prep for Exam:
Do not wear clothing that covers your neck and do not wear a necklace.

Knee Ultrasound, 76881

A carotid ultrasound produces images of the vessels within your neck and examines the blood flow within. It also evaluates for clots within these vessels. A carotid ultrasound tests for blocked or narrowed carotid arteries, which can increase your risk of stroke. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, family history of stroke or heart disease, recent stroke, coronary artery disease, and unusual sound in the carotid arteries (bruit) detected by your doctor are all reasons why you might need a carotid ultrasound.

A lower extremity venous ultrasound is used to evaluate the blood flow through the major veins in your leg. The most common reason for this ultrasound is to rule out blood clots (DVT) or venous insufficiency. Doppler ultrasound is used to measure your blood flow and blood pressure by bouncing sound waves off circulating blood cells. If you have a warm, red, or swollen area in your leg, it is often recommended to have a lower extremity venous ultrasound. 

Prep for this Exam:
You don’t have to do anything special to prepare your body for a lower extremity venous ultrasound, but it is important to dress appropriately. We recommend wearing clothing that is easy to remove and expose your leg.
